Relationships the Real Gold in Marketing and Network Marketing!

Real estate marketing is wielded upon us like a force of nature. You see, I liken real estate marketing to the Gold Rush of 1849, the only ones that made their fortune were those selling the picks & shovels and not the poor miners digging. So here’s why you need to hang up your picks & shovels and seize the golden opportunity of 24k gold relationship marketing.
Unfortunately, like the miners, I was convinced I needed to buy the pick-and-shovel facsimile of print ads, flyers, magazines, postcards, and calendars. Later in my career, all the internet companies promised to rank you on the internet! Spending tons of money on marketing is like chasing fool’s gold. The fallacy sold is how to reach the general public and get your name out there; it’s all about name recognition, not!
Most telling is that I pick up clients through being out and about or talking on the phone, creating trust in a warm conversation, and it’s building a relationship. I also talk about real estate, and then the spark is lit to where the person asks me for my business card or info, and I don’t even have to offer. Now that’s 24 Carat Gold marketing, and it’s genuine. No postcard, flier, or name recognition scheme can replace and represent whom you have to offer people in your business, like being the authentic person they just met.
However, the other aspect of marketing is networking or seeking business relationships. With the ten thousand plus business cards I have received in retrospect, the relationships we initiate and build are the real gold in network marketing and creating 24k genuine relationships. Business cards don’t have value unless you provide value to your new contact, for it’s not about you it’s about them. Remember, the word ego has a zero at the end, and if all you do is talk about yourself, you can end up with a three-person team of you, yourself, and your eg0.
Caveat enter, remember you won’t get along with everybody, but stay friendly always, for the general public and the business network circle back around to you. As the name-dropping ensues, you will run into friends of friends and colleagues of colleagues. However, I have found that it takes much time to find quality people to collaborate with, married in values, objectives, and goals.
Initiating and creating genuine relationships takes nurturing, and you must keep moving and searching for that vein of opportunity that holds 24-carat gold clients and partners. Once you do, you can yell, “Eureka, I found the gold!” But don’t yell too loud, for, like the Gold Rush of 1849, there are claim jumpers just waiting to pounce on and claim a stake in your find.
Sometimes that does happen and tests the relationship or partnership, and you may get your heart broken or have a lesser fate of being disappointed. Still, if you know that relationships are the gold, you can walk away knowing you were the real deal, genuine!
